Not a moment too soon

Early Girl lived up to her name: Our first tomato from the garden was ready for picking this evening, and there are more right behind it.

Ripe red tomato: Check.

Fresh fragrant basil leaves: Check.

Note to self: Buy buffalo mozzarella.

Don't skimp on the olive oil! Bon appetit.

  • Neil, we have been very lucky so far this year: no tomato hornworms. I was braced for them! Monstrous looking, they are.

We do have some beetles (look like potato beetles) that seem to enjoy the cucumber vines; I've been picking them off and (ew) "popping" them one by one. Not many, fortunately. So far the garden is 100% organic!
